Last year, we launched our first Empower Employment group through The Bridge Ministry. The program combined discipleship, work opportunities, and relational support in an environment built on grace, accountability, and growth. As we walked alongside participants, one thing became clear: consistent work matters deeply in the process of rebuilding stability.
Throughout the program, we spent time in Bible study, practiced workplace skills, and worked together on hands-on projects designed to build confidence and consistency. While we taught practical skills like landscaping and property cleanup, some of the most meaningful growth happened naturally in conversations before, during, and after work.
As we reflected on the first year of Empower Employment, we recognized several challenges. The few hours of work we were providing each week were valuable, but many participants needed more consistency to rebuild work rhythms, confidence, and stamina after long periods away from employment. We also realized that six months was not enough time for the lasting transformation we hoped to see. Growth was happening through long-term relationships and Bible study, and the consistent rhythms of working alongside one another week after week. While classroom discussions were helpful, much of the real growth was happening relationally — during jobs, in conversations after work, and by continuing to show up together over time.
One part of the program stood out above everything else: weekly Bible study. What began as a component of the program quickly became the foundation of it. Through studying Scripture together, we began to see transformation taking place in participants’ lives as they began to develop a renewed sense of purpose and identity in Christ. Even with that beginning transformation, we realized that six months was not enough time for those relationships and that growth to continue developing.
Out of those reflections, the vision for Reclaim Property Services was formed.
Reclaim Property Services is a DBA of The Bridge Ministry and operates as part of the Empower Employment initiative. The goal is simple: provide meaningful work opportunities within a grace-filled, structured environment where people can grow personally, professionally, and spiritually through consistent, purposeful work.
Today, Reclaim offers landscaping, lawn care, and property cleanout services throughout the Columbus area. The work is practical, hands-on, and meaningful — creating opportunities for employees to develop consistency, strengthen skills, and gain confidence through dependable work. Alongside the work itself, weekly Bible studies remain central to the culture of Reclaim, creating space for meaningful relationships, spiritual growth, and honest conversation.
Over the past several months, we have been grateful to see Reclaim continue to take shape through team development, branding, a new website, and growing work opportunities as we build toward long-term sustainability.
As we move through this first year, we would appreciate prayer for continued work opportunities, stable staffing, and for lasting transformation in the lives of the employees involved through Reclaim.
